Hofmeister, once a popular UK beer in the 80s and 90s, has been reinvented. Known for its mascot, George the Bear, the brand was famous but eventually faded as drinkers sought authentic European lagers.
In 2015, entrepreneurs Spencer Chambers and Richard Longhurst revived Hofmeister, focusing on quality. They partnered with Bavaria’s Schweiger brewery to produce Hofmeister Helles, a traditional lager adhering to the German purity law. Launched in 2016, it quickly won awards and is now served in top venues like the Ritz and Harrods.
Hofmeister today blends German brewing excellence with British character, representing a shift towards genuine, high-quality beer.
